Did You Feel It?

At 3 o' clock this morning I felt the bed shaking. The tremors stopped, and returned after a few seconds. I knew immediately what it was, and resisted the urge to panic. All the earthquake drill procedures from my childhood came rushing back--stand in a doorway, take refuge under a sturdy table--and I wondered whether they would be of any use if Mama Earth decided she wanted to shake things up in a big way. We deserve whatever she dishes out, anyhow.

Apparently, the earthquake was a 6.2 on the Richter scale, with the epicenter somewhere in Bataan. A second quake hit half an hour later, a 5+ originating in General Santos. Currently, geologists are reporting unusual activity from Mt. Mayon.

Brace yourselves.
